The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, multipurpose organization of women and men that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government and influences policy through education and advocacy. 

The League does not support or oppose candidates or political parties. We do provide a forum where all candidates running for office can state their positions.

The Pinebelt League, established in March 2016 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, serves the city and its surrounding counties, including Covington, Forrest, Jasper, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lamar, Marion, Smith, Simpson, Pearl River, and Stone. The League is an active chapter dedicated to fostering civic engagement and strengthening our democracy through initiatives such as voter registration drives and community events. Its mission is to improve government accountability and ensure that all citizens have a voice in the decisions that shape their lives. Voter registration efforts are ongoing, reflecting the League’s commitment to empowering the community.

​The League of Women Voters (LWV) Pinebelt conducts voter registration drives at colleges and universities within the counties it serves. These efforts also target areas with historically low voter turnout, ensuring greater access to voter registration. The initiative has seen significant success, with students enthusiastically embracing the opportunity to participate in the democratic process.
